The driving force behind the Hair Stem Cell Clinic is Dr. Coen Gho. His commitment to improving patients’ lives and innate passion for science formed the basis for the development of the hair stem cell transplantation technique.
When Gho was working with young burn patients in his early years as a doctor and researcher, he saw that hair transplants were painful treatments that often left large scars. He believed that this had to change.

Gho realised that the key to making a difference could be found in hair stem cells. He managed to get funding for stem cell research from several large companies who believed that the inspired young doctor could make a change. This has led to years of intensive research, which have produced an innovative medium that stimulates the tissue to renew its cells. This was a major breakthrough in his research and an important basis for the subsequent transplantation of hair stem cells. As inventor and developer, Gho obtained a patent for this method.

His drive to improve hair transplantation techniques only increased. Driven by his research, Gho wanted to realise his dream: to be able – in the future – to obtain a thousand hair follicles from one hair. To do this, he contacted Professor Dr. Martino Neumann, an international authority in the fields of dermatology, phlebology and oncology. He was sceptical about Gho’s ideas but took him under his wing to conduct the research.

The aim of the Hair Science Academy is to train excellent medical personnel in the field of hair care through customised training programmes. Doctors and nurses receive intensive training in the HST method in a sophisticated theoretical and practical programme.

Hair Stem Cell transplantation harnesses the power of nature by tapping into the regenerative capacity of human stem cells. The special feature of this innovative technique is that only a small part of the hair follicle, rather than the entire follicle, is harvested from the donor area. This small portion of tissue contains enough stem cells to grow new hair in the receptor area.
This is a small miracle: this regenerative capacity results in more hair from a single graft (hair follicle). The new grafts (hair follicles) are closely packed together, which creates a high hair density and a natural-looking aesthetic line. A special patented preservation solution stimulates growth and increases the vitality of the grafts, making them more effective. Hair Stem Cell Transplantation usually takes place within one day of treatment. We start by taking photographs and anaesthetising the area to be treated. This is followed by the harvesting of the grafts. You won’t feel anything, all we ask for is your patience. Stay alert throughout the day and you will not be under the influence of any sedatives. In the meantime you can make a phone call or stretch your legs.
The doctor will then mark the receptor area. Afterwards we will offer you a lunch of your choice. In the afternoon, after applying the anaesthetic, the doctor prepares the receptor area, after which the technician applies the grafts in their new position.

Once the treatment has been completed, the doctor will perform a full check-up and take some photographs. You will be given instructions and everything you need for aftercare.

Follow-up/contact times are set at one day, one week and one month after treatment to see how it is going. You can always contact us between these time intervals.

HST is a safe medical-cosmetic treatment that causes little or no discomfort. Our treatments leave no scars and the scalp generally recovers quickly. The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia and you will not feel anything during the procedure.

The results are not immediately visible, but take time to manifest themselves. Implanted hair follicles need a period of time to become established, which differs from person to person. There are a number of factors that come into play. The Hair stem cell transplantation method might be suitable for you if:

Both consultation and treatment are conducted by a certified doctor and technician. Both the technician and the doctor carrying out the consultation will perform the treatment.

Of course, this depends on the size of the area to be treated. One of our doctors can assess your situation in a free, no-obligation consultation. In our experience, one treatment is usually sufficient for mild hair loss at the temples or hairline or a small bald patch.

In general, health insurance does not cover hair transplants. However, in some cases, our treatments may be covered by health insurance under the terms of the policy. This is usually the case when treatment is medically necessary or in the presence of severe psychological distress. For example, scars and burns as a result of an accident and/or medical procedure.

The price will be based on the complexity of removing the grafts and the number of grafts. The number of grafts we can remove varies depending on the quality of the skin and hair follicles, the size of the donor area, the presence of scars and the client’s wishes, of course. You can colour your hair up to one day before the treatment.

Thanks to the new technique developed by Dr Coen Gho, you will experience virtually no pain with the HST method. Of course, a local anaesthetic will be applied to the treatment area.

In a normal procedure, we can transplant up to 2,000 follicular unit grafts in one treatment day. One graft contains up to three follicular units. However, the number of grafts required depends on your degree of baldness and your wishes. In addition, the number of follicles that can be transplanted depends on the size of the donor area and any scars present.

On one treatment day, 30-35 grafts per cm². In a subsequent session, this density can be increased to a maximum of about 50 grafts per cm².

As we work with needles up to 0.6 mm in diameter, no scars will be visible. This means that you can have any hairstyle you want in the future.

In theory, you should be able to keep all the transplanted follicles. However, grafts are more vulnerable in the first days after treatment and some may be lost. You can minimise the loss by following our instructions.

We take our treatment very seriously and are only satisfied if we achieve the best results. Our customers’ satisfaction is important and we do our best to make sure they are happy. Sport or heavy physical exertion is not recommended in the first two weeks after treatment. However, you can go straight back to your daily work.

You can fly immediately after the treatment. But to allow the wounds to heal, it is not advisable to expose oneself to the sun until all the scabs on the skin have disappeared.

Yes. During the course of treatment, no medication will be administered that may impair your ability to drive. This means that you can drive home immediately after the treatment.
