The HST method
An exceptional hair transplant technique has been introduced to Switzerland from the Netherlands. It’s a patent from the Dutch research doctor, Conradus Chosal Gho.
The technique has been in use for some years in Northern Europe, Great Britain (London), Holland (Maastricht and Amsterdam), France (Paris and Cap d’Antibes) Italy (Milan). More than 20 000 treatments have been carried out in these countries in recent years, providing a complete set of results.

It is not a classical transplantation technique like FUE, which consists in the displacement of follicular units taken from the donor area located at the back of the head and transplanted into the receiving area. It is instead a technique that takes only portions of follicular units acting with needles the size of half a millimeter. The interest of such low partial sampling is inherent in the phenomenon of hair stem cells. These stem cells are found within this small collection both in the portion that remains in situ as well in the portion taken. This fact is fundamental because from each group of stem cells grows back exactly one follicular unit equal to that of origin. It is clear that if two follicular units are generated from a follicular unit, we can talk about the multiplication of the same.
A REVOLUTIONARY TECHNIQUE
HST is ideal for poor donor areas and large alopecias
It is very important to reflect on how this phenomenon of multiplication can be extremely resolving in cases of sparse donor areas or when they are exploited by other interventions or in the restoration of large-scale alopecies. The hair takes nine months to grow again and recreate the size of the follicular units similar to the starting one. Once the donor zone is regenerated new subsequent interventions are possible, allowing the desired restoration.

This technique is practiced only in specialized clinics, called Hair Science Clinics, where doctors are trained at the Hair Science Academy in Maastricht, home to the research laboratory at the origin of the patent. Patients are subjected to a meticulous sampling of microscopic dimensions that result in mini wounds the size of a needle.

HST : painless, without bleeding, without bandage
The consequence is that the tiny wounds heal within two or three days,, that there is no bleeding and that it is not necessary to bandage the head of the patient after surgery. The post-operative course is therefore extremely rapid and absent from annoying traumatic consequences. Within a few days the garment is extremely presentable and there is no need to remain in isolation as in many other cases. The extremely small size of the grafts also allows a dense reconstruction in the donor area, the grafts being able to be placed very close to each other.
HST : grafts powered by a patented medium
Extremely thin and tissue-free grafts could not survive after extraction, like a plant without any clods around the roots. For this reason the grafts receive energy for their survival by immersion in a bath containing extracellular matrix éléments, and exosomes among other components. The permanence in the bath, called medium, is at least two hours after the extraction.
During the first phase, called extraction, which lasts a few hours, all the grafts are taken from the nape of the patient which contains follicular units insensitive to dihydrotestosterone and therefore are free from fall. In the afternoon we proceed to the replanting in the receiving area. Very small holes are drilled on the skin of the patient, to be able to insert, at a very close distance as the tiny size of the grafts allows, all the samples that have been prepared for this purpose.

The result is of an extreme naturalness, with no scars, with an absolutely unmatched density. Such a process is equally possible for the reconstruction of eyebrows, for the increase in density of patchy beards, to restore the scars for example left by interventions FUT FUSS strip. In addition Hair is also a reconstructive technique, successfully used, as several scientific publications illustrate, on patients suffering from skin burns.
How does an HST procedure take place ? The patient is subjected to a prior trichological examination by specialists. During this visit, the patient is invited to fill out a detailed medical history form in which he must describe his path related to the capillary problem for which he consults (whether he has already undergone surgery or not or how he has evolved his baldness)
HST : honest consultation for a viable project
This consultation visit aims to define the project shared with the patient. In fact, although the patient has generally very high expectations, he must be put in a position to understand what his real situation is. That is, he must realize the real conditions of his donor zone.
This is ethically very important not to fall into the illusion as unfortunately, several other practitioners induce patients into it. It must be clear that the wealth of follicular units that the patient has available is limited. When, unfortunately, the patient succumbs to the seduction proposed without too many scruples by unethical operators, the promises made, assisted also by excessively low economic proposals, the damages that can result are sometimes extremely difficult to restore.
The aim of the consultation is to establish the real potential in terms of transplantation offered by a donor area. This must be related to the area to be restored. The best donor zones, equipped with the largest capital of follicular units available, can provide 4 to 6 thousand follicular units. Then nothing more can be extracted from that area. If the extent of alopecia is large, then the patient will have to settle for a partial restoration or even an incomplete restoration. The Hair Science Clinics, the only ones where it is possible, exclusively, to undergo HST surgery, are clinics specialized in regenerative medicine, where the science applied to stem cells is concentrated in rejuvenation.
